Experience peak Danish “hygge” at the 2025 Danish Christmas Fair — now bigger and better on November 22 and 23!

After last year’s long lines and wait times, we’re expanding!!! This year, the Christmas Fair will take place at both the Danish Seamen’s Church and Plymouth Church.

All shopping for Danish goods and foods will be at the Danish Seamen’s Church all weekend. Browse beautiful Scandinavian designs, cozy knitwear, charming holiday ornaments, Danish candy, and traditional delicacies such as pork roast and that special cherry sauce perfect for your Christmas dinner. Don’t miss a chance to greet Santa and snap a photo with him!

On Saturday at Plymouth Church, indulge in Danish treats and seasonal favorites — homemade hot glögg (our version of mulled wine), golden æbleskiver (puffed pancakes), pork roast sandwiches, vegetarian and chicken tartlets, hotdogs with remoulade, roasted shallots and pickled cucumber, shrimp cocktails, and of course a tempting selection of Danish pastries and risalamande (our beloved rice pudding dessert). This year, we will not be serving smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches) but there will be plenty of seating to give everybody a chance to connect and hygge.

Parking

On weekends it can be difficult to park in Brooklyn Heights. Near the church you’ll find the following car parks:

•Central Parking between Cadman Plaza and Henry Street
•Smart Park at 89 Cadman Plaza West (corner of Prospect Street, Henry Street and Old Fulton Street)
•College Parking at Love Lane.

By boat

You can sail almost all the way to the church. Get off in Dumbo and walk the 500 yards to the church.

Sømandskirkens julemarked 2025

Julehyggen kommer så småt snigende, mens vi er ved at gøre klar til årets hyggeligste event: Sømandskirkens julemarked 2025 den 22. og 23. november! Efter sidste års lange køer udvider vi festen, så i år er der julemarked både i Sømandskirken og i Plymouth Church.

I Sømandskirken foregår al salg af varer. Find årets julegaver mellem skandinaviske designvarer og bløde striktrøjer. Find årets julepynt og kalenderlys. Husk det danske slik og chokolade- og lakridsjulekalendere, og så selvfølgelig alle de traditionelle lækkerier som flæskesteg, friskbagt rugbrød, leverpostej og julekager. Glem ikke at hilse på julemanden!

Lørdag i Plymouth Church er restauranten, hvor vi serverer sæsonfavoritter: flæskestegssandwich, vegetar- og kyllingetarteletter, hotdogs med remoulade, ristede løg og syltede agurker, rejecocktail; afslut frokosten med en portion risalamande eller æbleskiver (eller måske begge dele?) og en kop hjemmelavet varm gløgg. Vi serverer ikke smørrebrød, men der vil være masser af siddepladser, så alle får mulighed for at hygge sig og være sammen.

I år er der god plads til både julehandel, smagsprøver og julestemning i topklasse. Kig forbi og støt Sømandskirken, en dansk institution i New York gennem næsten 150 år!
